Obituary for Glenn E. Shope Sr.

Glenn E. Shope, Sr., 87, of Irvona, passed away Tuesday, May 23, 2017, at his residence.

Born on January 26, 1930 in Beaver Valley, he was the son of the late Benjamin and Bertha (Gates) Shope.

On January 29, 1955, Glenn married Bertha Lender in New York City. She preceded him in death in 2010.

He is a US Army veteran, where he served during the Korean War.

He was a member of the Richard L. Beers VFW Post 7043, and the F&AM Lodge 574, both in Coalport. He was also a member of the Irvona UMC.

Glenn will be deeply missed by his two children, Glenn E. Shope, Jr., and his wife Cindy, of Fayetteville, PA, and Brenda M. Kasubick, and her husband Dennis, of Houtzdale; a grandson, Capt. Brandon F. Morroni, and his wife Laura, of Fayetteville, NC; and a sister Louise Kightlinger of Franklin, PA.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by seven siblings, Marlin Shope, Cloyd Shope, Irvin Shope, Cecil Shope, Zenal Shope, Helen Black, and Paul Shope, son-in-law Anthony Morroni, and brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws Dean & Jean Miles, and Edward & Louise Lender.

Family will receive friends Friday from 5-8 PM and Saturday from 10 AM until the time of service at 11 AM in Kruise-Spewock Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc., Ramey. Rev. Tina Hawkins will officiate. Interment with military honors will follow in Utahville Cemetery. Masonic Services will be held Friday at 8PM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Jaffa Shrine, 2200 Broad Ave, Altoona, PA 16601.
