Obituary for Raymond Lukens

Raymond Gene Lukens, 85, formerly of Smokerun, passed away Saturday, March 23, 2019 at Epworth Manor, Tyrone.
Born February 1, 1934 in Osceola Mills, he was a son of the late William Clarence & Emma (Gonder) Lukens.
Raymond was a coalminer and operators helper on the continuous line for 23 years. He was a member of United Mine Workers, Hobo Gathering & Tourist Union #63, North of 60 Chapter Order of Arctic Adventures, and Canada’s Arctic Northeast Territories. Raymond was a life member of Columbia Fire Co. #1, was a Special Deputy Sherriff of Clearfield County and was an honorary member of the Pennsylvania Sherriff’s Association.
Raymond is survived by a son Robert E. Lukens and his wife Helen of Duncannon; two daughters Pamela Beckwith of Tipton and Terry Dobish and her husband Norman of Smokerun; three sisters Janet Suttle of Alabama, Helen Ann Hayward of Williamsport and Francis Freeberg and her husband Victor of Shelocta; five grandchildren Amy, Kristin, Joe, Tiffany and Brian; 8 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Raymond is also survived by his special friend Ann Myers of Mount Union.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter Rita K. Lukens; a brother William Clarence Lukens Jr.; and two sisters Rae Jean Capatch and Christine Karpinsky.
Friends will be received from 9-11am Tuesday, March 26 at Kruise-Spewock Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc., Ramey. A service will follow at 11am. Raymond will be laid to rest at Umbria Cemetery, Osceola Mills.
