Obituary for Willard W. "Bill" Nearhoof Jr.

Willard W. “Bill” Nearhoof, 86, of East Liverpool, OH, formerly of Madera, passed away on Sunday, October 4, 2015 at Calcutta Healthcare Center.

Born on April 22, 1929 in Madera, he was the son of the late Willard and Roxie (Thomson) Nearhoof.

He was a 1946 graduate of Bigler Twp High School, a member of the VFW, and worked for Borden Food in Baltimore, Sherwin Williams in Baltimore, and retired after 22 years with Montgomery Wards.

He was a Sgt in the US Army with the 28th Infantry Division in Germany and HQ 7604 Troop Command in Austria.

Bill married Peggy Shedlock in Baltimore, MD on July 17, 1954.

He is survived by two daughters, Karen Betteridge, and her husband Jack, of East Liverpool, Constance Panzer, and her husband Robert, of MD; one son, Willard Nearhoof, III, and his wife Catherine of MD; a grandson, Brandon Betteridge, and his wife Krista of VA; and a granddaughter, Jaime Backof, and her husband Jesse, of MD.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Peggy (Shedlock) Nearhoof in 2009.

Family will receive friends 6-8 PM Thursday and from 10 AM until the time of service at 11 AM Friday in Kruise-Spewock Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc., Madera. Rev. Robert Ford will officiate. Interment with military honors will follow in Fruit Hill Cemetery, Ansonville.
