Frank M. Scrano


Frank M. Scrano, 95, of Madera, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2014 at 6:00 PM at Knickerbocker Villa, Clearfield.

Frank was born in Madera, on May 24, 1919, a son of the late Fred and Felicia (Nardo) Scrano.

He was a 1937 graduate of the former Madera High School and received a degree of Civil Engineering from the University of Cincinnati in 1942.

Frank served as a Lieutenant in the US Navy during WW II aboard the USS Intrepid in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater.

He was employed as a Civil Engineer & Project Manager at John H. Casey Co. of Pittsburgh for 39 years. In 1974, Frank was awarded the Constructors Association of Western Pennsylvania Life Saving Award for saving a man's life at the Kinzua Dam.

Frank was a parishioner of the former Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Madera; a member of the Madera MOOSE Lodge #1172; Life member Houtzdale American Legion; a member of the Clearfield S.O.I; Philipsburg Elks 1173; a member of the former Madera VFW .

He is survived by a sister-in-law, Jean Scrano of Clearfield and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by 8 siblings; Fredora Mariani, Flora Bergh, Salvador Scrano, Fred "Fritz" Scrano, Frances Scrano, Dahlia Lloyd, Anthony "Foster" Scrano and Faustine "Petty" McDonald.

Frank enjoyed cooking, especially Italian dishes. He was a generous, kind and helpful person.

Friends will be received on Friday, Oct. 17 from 4-8 PM and on Saturday, Oct. 18 from 8:30 - 9:30 AM at the Kruise Funeral Home, Inc Madera.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Christ The King Catholic Church, Houtzdale, on Saturday, Oct. 18 at 10:00 AM with Fr. Marc J. Solomon as celebrant.

Interment will be in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Madera. Military Honors will be accord by the Houtzdale American Legion Honor Guard.
