Obituary for Gerald L. Hawkins

Gerald L. Hawkins, 85, of Glen Hope, passed away on Monday, February 8, 2021.
Born October 14, 1935 in Madera, he was the son of the late Edwin and Edith Mae (Wartz) Hawkins.
Gerald, aka “Uncle Jerry” by many, lived with and had excellent care for over thirty years with his brother Herb and his sister-in-law Annie. He had the opportunity to travel many places over the years with them. He flew to Colorado, California, and Las Vegas, attended many of his great-nieces and nephews weddings (he loved to dance with the girls), attended many sporting events, played bingo and even put his hand up at an auction. He especially “loved” rings, watches, pocket books with money, and making bracelets out of beads and sharing them with anyone he came into contact with. Most importantly, he loved his Lord and Savior.
He is survived by a sister, Margaret “Peg” (John) Mckeehan; sister-in-law Geraldine Hawkins; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by ten brothers, Edwin, William, Herman, Thomas, Norman, Lee, James, Richard, Harry, and Herbert; and a sister, Agnes Dotts.
A special thanks to all who cared for him at Partial, Angels Nest in Houtzdale and Hyde, Fayette Resources in Houtzdale and Dubois, and Hospice. As we all learned it took special people to take care of special needs people. The family is forever grateful for all of you.
To all our family and friends who had the opportunity to have known Uncle Jerry, WE THANK YOU for your true kindness shown to him over the years. He was also known for many unique saying that the family will cherish forever. A-all!
Services and interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
