Obituary for Harry Skebo
Harry Skebo, 91, of Atlantic, RD Houtzdale, died on Sunday, March 21, 2021 at the Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College.
Born August 1, 1929 in Olanta, he was the son of the late Samuel and Bessie (Stanchick) Skebo.
He wed Helen (Baron-Gresco) on January 20, 1979 at St. Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church in Ramey.
He is survived by his wife, a granddaughter, Jennifer Nicole (Kyle) Young, and a great-granddaughter, Ava Jo Young of Youngsville, PA; and many nieces and nephews.
He is the last of his generation, preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Helen (Lucas), a step-son, Joseph E. Gresco, five brothers, Pete, Wasco, Mike, John, and Joe; and four sisters, Christine Skebo, Kathryn Olexy, Anna Washic, and Julie Tallant.
Harry loved gardening and woodworking. He retired as a heavy equipment operator on road contruction and strip mining, working for Benjamin Coal Co. and Harry Hailey Coal Co., and Flango Bros. He drove school bus for twenty years for Jones Bus Co and finally Fullington Bus Co.
He was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church, Houtzdale.
Family will receive friends 4-7 PM Friday and 9:30-10:30 AM Saturday at Kruise-Spewock Funeral & Cremation Services, Ramey. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 11 AM in Christ the King Catholic Church. Fr. Joseph Staszewski will be celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Mary Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery.
