Henry R. (Hank) Serafini, 83, of Pennsylvania Furnace, passed away at Harmony of State College on Saturday, January 30, 2021, with his family by his side.
Hank was born on January 26, 1938 in Coalport, Pennsylvania, to the late Modesto and Mary (Watkavitch) Serafini. He is survived by one sister, MaryJane Ricketts, of Pine Grove Mills, PA. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas and Gerald Serafini.
On May 12, 1962, he married Patricia A. Hahn, who passed away in April of 2020. They were happily married for almost 58 years and enjoyed doing everything together, especially tailgating, camping, snowmobiling, and spending their winters in Crystal River, Florida. It makes our hearts happy to know they are rejoicing together again in Heaven. Hank was a very loving uncle to Mary Robert, Marcia Sweitzer, Melissa Ricketts, and Jamie Cheetham, and a loving great-uncle to Megan and Matthew Robert, Terese and Nicolle Sweitzer, and Dylan Cheetham. He was an important part of each of their lives, and he will be dearly missed.
Hank graduated from BCI High School in Coalport, PA, in 1955. After high school, he served in the U.S. Army Reserve until November of 1966. After that, he worked for HRI, Inc. in State College, PA and then as the Western Area General Superintendent for Genstar Stone Products Company in Frederick MD until his retirement. He was a member of the American Legion and the Philipsburg Elks. Hank loved watching all sports, especially those on the Big Ten Network. He was an avid Penn State football fan and enjoyed cheering on the Nittany Lions at Beaver Stadium, as well as at many away stadiums and bowl games. He enjoyed tailgating before and after games with his family and friends, and always welcomed everyone with open arms and a cold drink. Spending time with the people he cared about brought him great joy. Hank was also an avid hunter and loved being in the outdoors or working outside in his yard. He loved to lend a helping hand and was always ready and willing to help anyone who needed it. His family will greatly miss his unwavering love and support.
The family would like to sincerely thank the staff of Harmony at State College, who provided loving care to Hank throughout the past seven months. They would also like to thank UPMC hospice for their loving care of Hank as well.
