Obituary for John Janocko

John James Janocko, 87, of Morann, passed away Sunday, May 19, 2019 at UPMC Altoona Hospital.
Born on June 27, 1931 in Morann, he was the son of the late Michael and Susan (Rakatowsky) Janocko.
He was a 1949 graduate of Madera High School, and worked for twenty-six years at Sams Furniture as an assistant manager. He also worked for Community Action.
John was a minor league baseball player for the Detroit Tigers, and a member of St. Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, Ramey.
On October 10, 1953, he married Evelyn Traveny in St. Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, Ramey. She survives at home.
He is survived by his loving wife Evelyn, two sons, Thomas (Melissa) Janocko of Houtzdale, Timothy (Trina) Janocko of Clearfield; three sisters, Florence Kasubick, Delores Horomanski, and Margaret Hamady, all of Houtzdale; four grandchildren, Mallory (Antonio Joseph) Bellanger, Jonathan Janocko, Andrew (Natalie) Janocko, and Annie (Alex) Weaver.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death two sisters, Helen Kovach, Evelyn Kovalcin, and an infant sister, Mary Ann.
Friends will be received Tuesday 2-8pm and Wednesday from 9:00-9:30 am at Kruise-Spewock Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc., Ramey. Parastas will be Tuesday at 7pm. Divine Liturgy will be held in St. Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church Wednesday at 10am. Fr. James Davidson will officiate. Interment will follow in St. Mary Ukrainian Cemetery, Ramey.
