Obituary for Mariel Elizabeth Supenia

Mariel Elizabeth Supenia, 62, of Houtzdale, passed away Thursday, September 22, 2022 at Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, Hershey. Born on August 1, 1960 in Holland, Michigan, she was the daughter of William Thomas Walczak and his wife Alix, who survive in Holland, MI and the late Mariel Elizabeth (McCarty) Kephart and her late husband Asher Stewart Kephart. Mariel was a Christian by faith and was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Quilts of Valor. She received an Accounting degree from Kaplan University and received a Bachelor’s degree in Drafting from Triangle Tech, Dubois. She had worked as a Mechanical Drafter for 15 years for various companies and was a 911 Operator for Clearfield County.
Mariel enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, searching family ancestry, and making quilts for every family member. She also loved her pets. Mariel was full of life and always happy and fun to be around. Her witty sense of humor will be missed by all who knew her. In 1976, she married Vincent S. Supenia, who survives at home. In addition to her father, his wife and her husband, she is also survived by a daughter Mariel Supenia and significant other Francis Greenawalt of Houtzdale, a son William M. Supenia and wife Stefanie of Madera; siblings Mary Twa and husband Jeff of Grand Haven, MI, Thomas Walczak of Travis City, MI, Richard Walczak and wife Donna of Pottstown, PA, and Nancy Walczak Overway of Zealand, MI; nine grandchildren Larry Kephart, Jessica Kephart, Mia Greenawalt, Alydia Greenawalt, Emily Greenawalt, William Supenia, Kalem Supenia, Gianni Supenia and Arabella Supenia; a great grandson Lucas Kephart and numerous nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life will be held in the spring of 2023.
Memorial contributions in Mariel’s memory may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
