Mary Ann Checkaneck, 67, of Philipsburg, formerly of Blackburn, passed away on Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at Mt. Nittany Medical Center, State College.
Born on March 25, 1955 in Philipsburg, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Julia (Popovich) Checkaneck.
She was a 1973graduate of Moshannon Valley High School, and she continued her education at Harin G. Andrew Center in Johnstown. She worked in a cigar factory for a short time, and was a homemaker. She enjoyed reading and baseball, especially the Pirates.
Mary Ann is survived by one sister, Joan (Dennis) Fowler of Philipsburg, and several loving cousins, especially David Popovich and Rosemary Thatch.
Friends will be received Sunday 3-6 pm and Monday 9:30-10:45 am at Kruise-Spewock Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc., Ramey. Funeral Service will be Monday at 11 am at St. Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church, Ramey. Fr. Jim Davidson will be celebrant. Interment will follow in the St. Mary Ukrainian Cemetery.
Mary Ann suffered in life, particularly toward the end, but she loved everyone, especially Jesus Christ.
