Obituary for Shirley Shedlock
Shirley J. (Remeselnik) Shedlock, 85, of Ramey, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at her home, surrounded by family, after an extended battle with Alzheimers.
Born on November 20, 1936 in Madera, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Anna (Biros) Remeselnik.
On October 26, 1963, she married Joseph F. Shedlock at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Madera. He survives at home.
She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Ramey. Prior to her illness, she enjoyed listening to music, painting, going to yard sales, playing bingo, and cards with her sisters. Most importantly, she enjoyed spending time with her family. She was known for her sense of humor and appreciation for the simple things in life.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two children, Denise (Gary) of Johnstown, and Joseph M. (Bridget) Sabol of Bellwood; grandchildren, Owen and Curtis Shedlock. Shirley also had a special caretaker for many years, Sheena Jones of Ramey.
Shirley was the last living member of her immediate family. She was preceded in death by her parents, and nine siblings, two brothers, Albert and Andrew Remeselnik; and seven sisters, Margaret Desso, Agnes Grzbeak, Frances Copek, Elizabeth Wilder, Anna Burdick, Evelyn Bungo, and Eleanor McGlynn.
Friends will be received Friday 4-7pm and Saturday from 9:30-10:45 at Kruise-Spewock Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc., Ramey. Rosary will be recited Friday at 6:30. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11AM Saturday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Ramey. Rev. Zab Amar will be celebrant. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Shirley’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association or to Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Ramey, PA.
