Obituary for Stanley Berzonsky

Stanley Berzonsky, 96, passed away Tuesday, January 30, 2018, at Summa-Barberton Hospital in Barberton, OH.

Born on August 17, 1921 in Fernwood, he was the son of the late Wasyl and Fenia (Pohlid) Berzonsky.

He was a 1940 graduate of Madera High School, and he attended DuBois Business College. He owned and operated a gas station, was the Gulich Twp. Tax Collector, and he worked for many years as a bookkeeper in the coal industry. He enjoyed watching the Steelers and Pirates, and enjoyed family parties, especially the ice cream cake.

He was a kind man who loved people. He was an exceptional storyteller, explaining how life was when he was growing up. Uncle Stan, as know by his nephews, never missed an opportunity to spend time with them, taking them to Pirates games or the down to watch the cherry blossoms bloom. He was also an intergral part in the lives of his great-nieces and great-nephews.

He will be deeply missed by two sisters, Ann Petrovich of VA, and Mary Magensky of OH, and also numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by eight brothers, Frank, Harry, George, Metro, Michael, Pete, Samuel, and John Berzonsky.

Family will receive friends 5-7 PM Friday and 9:30-10:30 Saturday in Kruise-Spewock Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc., Ramey. Funeral Services will be 11 AM Saturday at St Vladimir Orthodox Church, Janesville. Father George Hnatko will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
