Obituary for Victoria G. Lucas

Victoria G. Lucas. 98, of Houtzdale, passed away Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at Windy Hill Village, Philipsburg.

Born on September 15, 1918 in Boardman, PA, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Mary (MacKnivish) Moscollic.

Victoria worked as a domestic housekeeper in Brooklyn, NY as a young woman, and later worked in some local sewing factories around the Moshannon Valley.

On August 1, 1953, she married Mitchell Lucas in St. Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Church. He preceded her in death in 1996.

She is survived by two children, Michael Lucas, and his wife Melinda, and Shirley Zakutney, and her husband Michael, both of Houtzdale; a sister, Josephine Murawski of Morann; and three grandchildren, Sara Ann Zakutney, Anastasia Marie Lucas, and Michaela Marie Lucas.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Joseph Lucas, three brothers, Michael, Anthony, and John Moscollic, and five sisters, Bernice Zulick, Mary Tirch, Julia Kasubick, Isabella Stine, and Barbara Kline.

Family will receive friends 5-8 PM Friday, and 9:00-9:45 AM Saturday in Kruise-Spewock Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc., Ramey. Parastas will be sung Friday at 7:30 PM.

Funeral services will be held 10 AM Saturday in St. Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, Ramey. Rev. Anthony Balistreri will officiate. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Ukrainian Cemetery, Ramey.
