On January 8, 2019, Daniel V. Kitko passed from this earth. Dan was born on January 29, 1977 to Kenneth and Clementine Kitko. He was their 5th and last child. Dan graduated from Moshannon Valley High School in 1995 and studied business at Penn State University. He worked for the majority of his life at Kitko Wood Products in Glen Hope, PA., and later as an IT Specialist for an online tech support company.
Known as baby Dan when he was a child, this soon changed as he grew into a man. Once called a behemoth by the press when he played high school football, the nickname Big Dan remained with him until he died.
Dan was a man with many talents. A voracious reader, he was well versed on current events, politics and football. He could hold a conversation with anyone at anytime about anything. He was an avid football fan and was devoted to the Penn State Nittany Lions. Dan was also an amazing artist. Whether he painted with oil, pastel, ink or spray paint, he was able to create beautiful illustrations and images of nature, landscape and wild imagery. And sometimes, when asked, he would make the most delicious cheesecake.
Dan’s most amazing quality however, was his gentle nature. Truly a giant of a man, his heart was just as big. He was a loyal son and brother, a loving uncle, a great dog dad to his beloved Milton, and kind and generous friend to all. The world is truly a smaller place now.
As he joins his best friend and dad Ken in heaven, he leaves behind his mother, Clementine, his Brothers Ken and wife Paulette, and Stephen and wife Mary Jo, his sisters Kristine Carlini, and Jennifer Dell Antonio and husband Joseph. He will be greatly missed by his nieces and nephews Gabriel Ford, Seth Thomas Ford, Hannah Jo Kitko, Emma E. Kitko, Dominic Carlini and Ariana Carlini.
“There are far, far better things ahead than any we leave behind” (CS Lewis) Peace Big Dan.
