Obituary for Gregory Tom Hensal

Gregory T. “Tom” Hensal, 55, of Madera, passed away on Saturday, May 23, 2015, surrounded by his family, at Mount Nittany Medical Center.

Born on December 14, 1959 in Philipsburg, he was the son of the late William and Kathryn (Pollick) Hensal.

He married his wife Cheryl (Wrobleski) Hensal on April 3, 2007 in Winchester, VA.

He was employed by Sky Haven Coal for a number of years as well as Graymont Mine Co. He completed a four year apprenticeship program for I.U.O.E. Local #66 and graduated with the title of Journeyman Operator. He worked for many years for International Union of Operating Engineers Local #66, where, most recently he specialized in natural gas pipeline construction. He was a member of Osceola Lodge #515 Free and Accepted Masons of PA, and the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge.

He served his community for many years, as an EMT for Madera Ambulance Co, and a volunteer firefighter with Madera Fire Co. He was also a supervisor for Bigler Township for several years.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Trevor Hensal of Altoona, step-children, David Root of Clearfield, Bethany Root of Madera, and Adam Root of Madera, a sister, Sharon Reed, and her husband Rich, of Ventura, CA, and two brothers, John “Jack” Hensal, and his wife Nancy, of State College, and Francis “Gene” Hensal of Madera

He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins..

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents, and several aunts and uncles.

Family will receive friends Saturday from 11:00 AM until the time of service at 1:00 PM at Kruise-Spewock Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc., Madera, with Rev. Mark Melhorn officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
