Obituary for Jon Edwin Butterworth

Jon Edwin "Jack" Butterworth

Jon Edwin "Jack" Butterworth, 69 of Chester Hill, died on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at 7:10 AM at his residence.

Born on June 22, 1945 in Philipsburg, he was the son of the late Edwin and Mabel (Irwin) Butterworth. He graduated from Philipsburg-Osceola High School. He wed the former Rose Ann Kitko on April 25, 1970 in Houtzdale.

Jon served his country in the United States Army from 1968-1976. From 1969-1970 he served in Vietnam. During enlistment, he was trained to fight wild fires and flight line fires. He was a member of the 225th Blackhawk Unit. Following his honorable discharge, he was a heavy equipment diesel mechanic and worked for Riverhill Coal Co., from where he retired in 1995.

He was a member of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, the former John Branic VFW Post 8822, Madera and enjoyed using his hands working with cars and woodworking.

He is survived by his wife, Rose, Chesterhill; two daughters, Pamela (Mark) Husted, Morrisdale, Paula Butterworth, Chester Hill, three grandchildren, Cody Husted and fiance Kristine Frank, Osceola Mills, Jesse Husted and his companion, Kara Maines, Morrisdale, Dylan (Rachel) Husted, Clearfield, two great-grandchildren, Jackson & Sadie Husted, Clearfield; three sisters, Theora Williamson, Madison, TN; Joan (Paul) Dimond, Chester Hill, Janet Miller, Lock Haven and two brothers, Dean Butterworth, Philipsburg, Eldon (Joann) Butterworth, Punxsutawney and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Ray, Irwin and Maynard Butterworth.

Friends will be received at Kruise Funeral Homes, Inc., Ramey on Thursday, September 18 from 2-4 and 6-8 and on Friday, September 19 from 8:30-10 AM.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM on Friday in Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Philipsburg with Fr. Robert J. Kelly as celebrant. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the Osceola Mills Honor Guard

Jon will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him, and by his beloved pups, Tucker & Wyatt.
